Anthem Ohio Medicare Important Updates – 9/28/21

ANOC Letters:

2022 Annual Notice of Changes (ANOC) Update

The 2022 Annual Notice of Changes (ANOC) have begun to mail and will continue through the last week of September so that our members receive their ANOCs timely by September 30th and in accordance with CMS regulations. Beginning 10/1, you can download the ANOC from mProducer using the Plan Documents on the Plan Details quoting page.

The 2022 ANOC mailing includes the following components:

  • Envelope messaging (address sheet showing through a clear plastic bag) which, depending on the amount of plan changes, will have several variations:
  • It’s easy to keep your current plan. No action is required — it will auto-renew in December.
  • Your plan just got better. No action is required — it will auto-renew in December.
  • Want to keep your current plan? No action is required — it will auto-renew in December.
  • See what’s new in your plan for next year.  Questions? Call us to go over what’s changed – we’re here to help.
  • Annual Notice of Changes booklet, which includes:
  • Provider Directory, EOC, and Formulary Notice; the notice provides our members with information on how to access these documents online or request by paper
  • Notice of Privacy Practices (NOPP)
  • CMS Opioid Disclaimer

Moving from PDP/MS to MAPD:

  • When PDP members enroll into another plan, their MS plan will NOT cancel automatically.
  • Please inform the member that they MUST contact MS customer service to process that cancellation/disenrollment.
  • If leaving a competitor plan, they should contact the competitors MS Customer Service to cancel that policy.

National PPO Network:

See attached for PPO Networks. As long as provider is in network, OH Members can travel to any of the attached states on their MA Plan.

Product spotlight – PERS

If you are looking for a ‘sticky’ benefit to help keep your clients with Anthem, look no further!

Our Personal Emergency Response System benefit will help you retain that member and make it near impossible for them to leave. Why you ask? Well, there are many reasons that set our unit as Best in Market. All of our plans have this at no additional cost and requires no health qualifications. All the member has to do is call member services and request it!

  • 24/7/365 assistance anywhere in the country where there is a cell signal (works off ALL cell towers, not just certain carriers like other plans)
  • Unit has a GPS locater and microphone inside. If member is lost, all they have to do is press the button to be connected to the care team. If their child or caregiver needs to find them, they can call the Care Team and have the unit pinged
  • Optional fall detection services
  • Water resistant; ok for shower or playing in sprinkler with grandkids, not ok for scuba diving
  • Unit is great, but it won’t work if member forgets to charge it. Unit has a 36 hour battery life, but we recommend charging at the same time each day (put the charging cradle on tv stand and charge it at the same time every day. Do they watch news or Jeopardy every day? If so, make that the charging time. It will take @3 hours to charge from 0-100%
  • Care Team includes licensed social workers. Member can press button to talk to someone because they are lonely, or, to ask for more information about a product they just saw advertised on tv. The Care Team is there for them around the clock

Important Update: Cigna 2022 Kit Delays

From Cigna broker announcement from 9/29:

Sales kits are delayed, but we have options!

The Annual Enrollment Period is one of the most critical times for our partnership as we strengthen and grow our businesses together.

At this time, it is important to notify you, that we are experiencing uncontrollable supply chain delays in the shipping of our 2022 Sales Kits. At this time, we cannot commit to delivery of the 2022 Sales Kits before October 1.

We have explored all viable options to continue to support the best AEP launch, despite this unforeseen challenge. While we work on getting the sales kits out to you as soon as possible, please be aware:

Virtual Tools are available

Our online enrollment tools, such as Connecture DRX, are available. A paper kit is not necessary to use this tool. You and your prospects can also access plan details at Cigna.com starting October 1.

Sales Kits are loaded onto the Resource Center in Cigna’s Producers’ University

At this time, you can log into Producers’ University and download the 2022 Sales Kit(s) that support the territories that you cover. Downloading the 2022 Sales Kits now, will ensure that you have access to your required materials, if you are without an internet connection when meeting with your customers.

  • We suggest that you print a few copies to have on hand.
  • Don’t forget to print enrollment forms, which can be found in the sales kits. This will allow you to still provide paper applications for your prospects and customers to complete enrollments until your kits arrive.

Your Broker Manager may have printed copies

Your Cigna Medicare Broker Manager may have some copies for you. They’ve been sending orders to local printers so that they can get you some copies to tide you over until your order arrives. Not familiar with your Broker Manager? Click here to access a reference guide.

A note about your Sales Kits

Regretfully, there is an error on page 27 of the printed Sales Kit for Maricopa County. Your kit will include stickers that should be used to cover the error. Your broker manager will also have these stickers available. Our online version does not have this error; it is correct in its current version.

We understand the additional burden this places on you, and apologize for the inconvenience this unforeseen challenge may have caused. We will continue to push our vendors and delivery partners to make the kits available as soon as possible for you. It is our priority and commitment to continue to do everything we can to support a successful AEP for you.

AEP 2022 Application Submission | CSM’s Agent Guidance Reference Resources

There’s so much to do this time of year, and making sure your application is accepted the first time around is very important.  Please review the guidance and tips below.  Also, please download the Application Submission Reference Sheet for quick access to the carrier specific fax numbers, and where applicable, email accounts, to submit non-electronic enrollments.

GENERAL/CARRIER SPECIFIC 2022 AEP TIPS AND GUIDANCE

Most apps now are plan specific. Be sure to check that the app matches the plan requested.

Aetna:  Applications are coded for each plan. You cannot take an app out of one kit and use in for another plan. There are no PDF’s available to print.

Anthem:  If using a paper application, include both your encrypted TIN and Cornerstone Senior Marketing’s encrypted TIN CKHJQPKSMY on the application.

WellCare:  If faxing a paper app, WellCare encourages the use of their personalized application page.  The page is barcoded specific to the agent and should be submitted as the final page of the application.  Click here.

Invalid Medicare ID number

It’s best to always see a copy of the client’s Medicare card to ensure the current number is on the app.

Missing signatures or signature dates

Always make sure you and the applicant sign and date the application. Remember, you should not sign and date the application until it is in your possession.

Double check that all signature fields are completed and the dates are correct.  We frequently see a date of birth or effective date listed as a signature date!

Missing or Invalid Writing Numbers

This is very important as this is how you are paid! In cases when the incorrect writing number is listed on the application the carrier will drop the policy as a house account until a correction is processed.

Invalid Election Period

Be sure to check or write in the AEP election on the application that requires the election to be entered. The carrier won’t assume the AEP election.

While most elections will be marked AEP this time of year, it’s still important to make sure you are using the correct election period for age-ins or other special circumstances.

Missing Effective Date

Be sure to enter the effective date in regardless if it is AEP. We have seen apps pend for not entering the effective date.

While not all carriers require electronic enrollments, many prefer this method.
