Medico Adding New Hospital Indemnity Plan in Ohio!

Medico is releasing a new Hospital Indemnity plan in Ohio effective February 1, 2019.

Medico is introducing the plan in eight other states including: Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming*.  Here’s a brief summary of the exceptionally strong benefits you’ll see**:

Plan Benefit Changes:

  • Increased the observation benefit from 50% to 100% and maximum days from three to six
  • Added a transportation and lodging benefit
  • Added 21 and 31 days of coverage to the daily confinement benefit (in Utah, all options are 10, 21, or 30 days) and added daily benefits starting at $100

  Rider Changes:

  • New outpatient surgical coverage, urgent care coverage and lump sum hospital confinement coverage
  • Enhanced the outpatient therapy benefit to include chiropractic care
  • Simplified skilled nursing coverage for up to 50 days
  • Additional day added to ambulance service

* Previously approved states include  AL, AR, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, NE, NV, OK, OR, PA, TX, WI, and WV.

** Benefits may vary by state.

In addition, the rates on these policies will be approximately 19% lower.

Aetna Medicare Network Update: ProMedica to Continue in Ohio

Aetna has reached a new 3-year agreement with ProMedica Physician Group. Effective January 1, 2019, ProMedica and its affiliated providers will continue to participate in Aetna’s Toledo/NW Ohio Medicare network.

There’s been no interruption to member access as an agreement was reached before the contract’s termination date. ProMedica and its affiliated providers are also included in our online provider search tool and current printed provider directories.

ProMedica Physician Group will continue to participate in the following Medicare products:

·         Aetna Medicare℠ Plan (HMO) ·         Aetna Medicare℠ Plan (PPO)

Important Humana AOR Changes!

Effective December 14, 2018, Humana has an updated policy regarding Agent of Record changes. This aligns with Humana’s Agent of Record Protection Pledge and is in-line with industry norms. This change also represents the commitment to protect the integrity of the agent-member relationship and supports confident book-of-business growth.

Humana will no longer process the following change requests:

  • AOR change requests received from a member (e.g. handwritten letter or email).
  • AOR change request received from an agent (other than through the Agent Business Transferal Form).

It’s the Final Countdown! AEP is Coming to an End

The Annual Election Period is coming to an end on Friday December 7th. Below are some important reminders to ensure your clients are properly enrolled…

  • All applications must be submitted to the carriers by 11:59 PM on Friday December 7th.
  • Electronic submission is preferred!
  • When faxing applications to the carriers, you must submit one application at a time and keep your fax confirmation for each app. If an application becomes lost or is not received, you may need your back-up documentation to prove the initial submission date.
