Medicare Center MBI Number Update
Summary of Regulatory Changes
As part of the Social Security Removal Initiative, Medicare cards with MBI numbers began to be issued to Medicare recipients in April 2018. Medicare Center has supported both HICN and MBI number input on the Medicare enrollment forms during the transition period. Starting on January 1, 2020, the transition period is over and only MBI numbers should be used on enrollment applications.
