Medicare Certification

Insurance agents need to complete annual training and certification requirements, such as the AHIP Medicare training, to stay compliant with CMS regulations and changes in Medicare plans. These certifications cover Medicare basics, marketing guidelines, and compliance requirements. Insurance carriers require agents to complete additional carrier-specific training in addition to AHIP certification.

What are the options for 2027 certification?

There are even more certification options this year—including AHIP, Pinpoint*, NABIP*, and Aetna’s no‑cost certification option—providing greater flexibility to prepare for the year ahead. *New for 2027.

How does Aetna’s no‑cost certification work?

Aetna’s Medicare certification is free for those selling Aetna & SilverScript only. It is not transferable to other carriers. The training does not qualify for Continuing Education (CE) credits.

What must a broker do if they have completed AHIP, Pinpoint, or NABIP?

Brokers must log in to the Aetna Academy portal and transfer their external certification. Then, they can complete the required Aetna Core, SilverScript PDP, and MA/MAPD/SNP training within the portal.

Where is the certification portal?

Aetna Academy, our new certification portal, may be accessed from Producer World using single sign-on or by logging in directly to the platform at https://www.aetnaacademy.com/ui/home.

How much does it cost to take AHIP, NABIP, and Pinpoint certification?

AHIP: $175
NABIP: $100
Pinpoint: $99.95

Are AHIP, NABIP, & Pinpoint accessible from the Aetna Academy portal?

Is there a discounted AHIP rate for brokers certifying through Aetna?

No, there is not a discounted rate for brokers taking AHIP for 2027.

Does it take less time to complete NABIP or Pinpoint than it does to complete AHIP?

Content reviews are currently underway to compare the estimated times of completion.

Does NABIP or Pinpoint offer a re-certification (fast track) option like AHIP which allows completion of modules 4 & 5 only?

The structure of the NABIP and Pinpoint Medicare trainings is still under review.

Integrates Telesales and VA FIDE training.
Enables acceptance of NABIP & Pinpoint, which was not possible under the AHIP-owned platform.

Should new brokers complete certification before or after onboarding with Aetna Medicare?

We recommend new brokers complete certification prior to submitting their onboarding request. Onboarding cases submitted prior to completing certification are held for processing.
